Culminating Projects
(15 Classes)
You will be doing this project individually. You have 3 weeks to complete this unit of work (15 classes approx.). Select two out of the three animation styles listed below to create. Create two 30 second animation using the Rotoscoping, Parallax Scrolling or Kinetic Typography style.
Rotoscoping
Rotoscoping is an animation technique in which animators trace over live-action film movement, frame by frame, for use in animated films. Complete the tutorial lesson found below for this unit of work in order to understand how complete a rotoscoping animation.

Student Exemplars
YOUR CHALLENGE: Create a movie clip in Flash (car, wagon, bird) that moves across a 2 to 3 layered landscape.
This is known as the parallax scrolling effect. Objects in the foreground move faster than those in the background. See in the example below that the barn is moving slower than the cows, which are moving slower than the fence. Please use the tutorials provided to learn how to create this effect.

A level 4 would be earned if your animation loops continuously without jumping.

Kinetic Typography
YOUR CHALLENGE: Create a verbal animation of a song or monologue 30 seconds to 1 minute in length.
Kinetic Typography is basically TEXT that MOVES. Really good Kinetic Typography involves WORDS that move/behave in the way the word suggests (i.e. The word SWING would swing....the word ASHES would look like ashes).
